First Impression | Lancôme Juicy Shaker

I purchased the Lancôme Juicy Shaker on a whim after spotting it in the beauty section in Shoppers Drug Mart. I had initially heard of this product through the YouTube beauty community, and was intrigued, so despite the $28 price tag, I decided to try it out.

Described as a ‘lip oil’, I expected this product to be more of a lip gloss than anything, but was pleasantly surprised by the hydrating formula,  lack of tacky/sticky texture, and the overall lip balm feel. It gives the lips a gloss-like shine, but feels like a lip balm, which is neat. When first purchased you can see the separation of the oil in the tube, and it is oddly satisfying to, as it is so aptly named, shake it to mix it up.

As a recovering chronic lip gloss purchaser (meaning I buy lip glosses excessively, use them several times and then lose them in drawers and purses only to buy a new one a few months later), my first impression of the Juicy Shaker is a positive one in that I could see myself using it fairly consistently. This is mostly due to the formula being non-sticky. I really hate when using a true gloss and having my hair get stuck to my lips any time the wind blows.  This is also because I don’t find it too long lasting, and apply it fairly often throughout the day. (This ultimately isn’t a huge issue for me as I am used to re-applying regardless, due to eating and drinking throughout the day anyway.)

I chose the colour 301 Meli Melon for my first Juicy Shaker, which smells like watermelon (my favourite!) and has a very sheer pink pigment. To me, it doesn’t seem to provide too much of a colour to my lips, which is fine for me – I still enjoy the slight shine and hydrating feel that this product provides.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Pros: moisturizing/hydrating, smell, quality of the product

Cons: not long-lasting (for me)

Is this product worth the price?  Yes. Although I am saying this prematurely, I believe it will be worth the price purely due to cost per wear. I will update after a few months to see if this is still a product I am reaching for to truly determine this.

I would not necessarily buy this product if I were looking for a lip colour or lip stain, but that may just be because of the colour I chose, which is pretty sheer. I did notice they have brighter and deeper colours and shades which I am interesting in trying.

I definitely like this product a lot and plan to re-purchase and try different colours!
