24/52

Monday night was date night for David and I since he would be working late this week. For dinner, we went to Flip – which is a restaurant that I had been wanting to go to for some time, but had never been.  I ordered the special of the day, which was a shrimp spaetzle. Our waitress described spaetzle as the German version of gnocchi. So, in simplest terms, thick pieces of pasta. I am a huge fan of gnocchi, so that sold me. This is the best meal I have had at a restaurant since moving here. I can’t believe it took us this long to go to Flip!

After dinner, we went to see the Amy Winehouse documentary. It was made by the people who made the documentary ‘Senna‘ which is a favourite of mine.

since i moved here in july, i have been on a quest to find the best pad thai in regina. specifically, pad thai that is comparable to the one from my favourite place back in ontario – ‘saigon’s delight’. pictured is david, sitting across from me in ‘little saigon restaurant’ in regina – home of my second-favourite pad thai in this city. while nothing i have found here compares to ‘saigon’s delight’, i do enjoy coming to this particular  restaurant with david, as it is always very quiet. my favourite pad thai in regina is from ‘vietnamese garden’ however, i prefer it for delivery and eating it at home. the quest continues!

fresh and sweet – 1/52

starting today, i will be sharing a photo once a week, for 52 weeks.
i tried doing ‘project 365’ once in 2009, it didn’t last very long, so i’m hoping that a photo a week will be more manageable for me. i wish i had thought to do this when i first moved to saskatchewan, but 7 months in should do. have i really been here this long already?! this little project should also help prompt me to blog – i hope.

this is a photo of my caramel macchiato from one of my favourite places in regina – fresh & sweet.  i woke up this morning with one goal in mind: brunch. david and i managed to roll out of bed at a decent time and got to ‘fresh & sweet’ nice and early (yay free tables and no wait!). we had been here once before in the summer, i ordered the same thing today as i did then, to no one’s surprise. i can’t wait for my family to come visit sometime so I can take them here!
